Compression Springs

Compression springs (ones that are squeezed) are by far superior to tension springs (ones that are pulled apart) due to their ability to take more force and not fail. The longer travel gives you more progressive feel as you flex the binding forward. This translates to: as you flex forward (drop your knee), the springs increase in resistance over a wide range of travel. A standard cable binding might only compress (or stretch, depends on the style) a spring about 20 mm on a 90 degree arc, our bindings will compress a spring over 50 mm on a 90 degree arc.

You will not find a smoother, more even forward flex then with the Bishop.

Springs are interchangeable. Purchasing the Bishops allows you to select what springs you would like to initially come with the binding..

Spring Selection:

  • Performance - Maximum forward boot pressure and heel retention. Resort/performance skiing. Medium/heavy weight skiers. Technically speaking, your binding will come with two of the formerly named "hard" springs.
  • Tour - Medium forward boot pressure and heel retention. Touring and resort skiing. Light/medium weight skiers. Technically speaking, your binding will come with one of the formerly named "hard" springs, and one of the formerly named "soft" springs.
