Toe Bail System
A front toe bail does not rely on the traditional pinch or squeeze method needed to hold a telemark boot into a "fixed toe box" as found on other bindings. A bad side effect of this pinch or squeeze method is: As a boot wears down it will perform differently in a fixed toe box thus making for inconsistencies in the performance. Some call this "Forward Creep". The front bail also allows for very easy exit and entry from the binding. A Toe Bail does not bite into the duck bill of the boot like a fixed toe box which equals less wear and tear on the boot.
More
importantly, the pivoting toe bail completely removes rocker
launch. Rocker Launch is an unwanted and detrimental effect
found with standard fixed toe boxes where the heel of the boot is spring
loaded upward from the ski as much as 20 degrees (or several inches)
. This gives you the sensation of being launched over the front
of the ski. The Bishop keeps the heel of the boot perfectly flat on
the ski. It even has a small amount of downward force that keeps the
sole of your boot on the ski when ever you pick up that ski.
No other binding gives you this effect.
